Safety Culture Survey
SPS’s Safety Culture Survey allows you to identify your safety culture’s strengths and weaknesses by measuring employees’ perceptions about the effectiveness of the current safety culture. This is the quickest way to gain the most information about employee’s perceptions of the current culture. The survey measures several factors, including: Management Support for Safety, Peer Support for Safety, Personal Responsibility for Safety, and Actively Caring for Safety. The survey also measures employee’s perceptions about the effectiveness of several Safety Management Systems:
- Discipline
- Hazard Identification & Correction
- Training
- Communication
- Rewards & Recognition
|
- Employee Involvement
- Safety Suggestions
- Incident Reporting & Analysis
- Rules & Procedures

Used by itself or in conjunction with our other safety culture assessment tools, the survey can identify what the organization is doing well and what the organization needs to improve upon in order to achieve a Total Safety Culture. The survey can be used to see differences in departments, sites, or regions. Up to 3 different demographic categories can be used (for example, a common set of demographic categories is Department x Organizational Level x Shift).
You can benchmark your organization with one of several industry norms. We have norms for the following industries or regions: Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Utilities, Puerto Rico, as well as our baseline client norm, with more norms coming. The survey database contains almost 100,000 respondents from hundreds of organizations around the world. Finally, the survey can be customized as well.
The survey is currently translated into the following languages (with more to come): English, Spanish, French (Quebec and European versions), German, Portuguese, Icelandic, Dutch, Norwegian, Ukrainian, Afrikaans, and Tswana. We’ll be happy to translate the survey into other languages as needed.
